  • Serpent’s Back Hope, Bc

A fairly short hike with a lot of stairs to wrap your way up, Serpent’s backbone is a great hike to do in the Hope BC area. Great rope swing near the bottom as well. #hiking #BCParks

Steps along the trail leading to a small bridge crossing in the lush forest.
Stairs headed in every direction like an MC Escher painting. They really did a good job of allowing easy passage throughout all of the elevation change.
The bridge crossing as seen from above. While I was there there was decent waterfall action.
One of a handful of clusters of Western Trillium growing on the lower section of the hike.
  • Northern Lights from Golden BC on June 1, 2025.

Northern Lights from Golden BC on June 1, 2025.

Used a small camping light nearby to take a selfie under the Northern lights. Didn’t want to spend too much time with my back so best of three here ya go!
Do a barrel roll! The yellow sections were rolling as the aurora borealis continued on.
Around the peak of what I saw, the yellow showed a large ripple pattern while thick beams where wxtending through the purple. There was some out of frame to my right rippling further south, but not a lot.
More turbulence in the lower lights while the purple beams continue serve the beam.
The Northern lights as seen from Golden, BC. This photos shows a few strong beams cutting up through the yellow and purple.

Caught a good showing of the Northern lights on June, 1st just south of Golden, BC. To talk about something completely unrelated to these great photos, does anyone know how to auto publish image sets to the socials? I’m able to publish a link to this post, but as you can see, things need work around here.

Do a barrel roll! The yellow sections were rolling as the aurora borealis continued on through the night.
Used a small camping light nearby to take a selfie under the Northern lights. Didn’t want to soend too much time looking away so this was good enough for me!
Waves in the sky as the Northern lights were really going. The beams could be seen burning up from the yellow into the purple sentinels above.

  • Hello and welcome!

I’m the EverdayHiker, and I like to spend my days hiking around all of the beautiful and wondrous landscapes of this great planet that we all call home! So far, my travels have only included the USA and Canada (in progress, and what an amazing country so far)! I travel around and do as many day hikes as possible and I would love to share with you some of these locations as well as to hopefully make it easier for anyone interested to find a local hike or to plan a trip around hikes. As things move forward, I will be adding more and more trail descriptions and photos, as well as other sources of information relating to hiking and trip planning. See you on the trail!
